Heat your prepared mashed potatoes until steaming and keep warm.

Once the prime rib has rested, cut it into four thick, steakhouse-style slices. Heat the au jus in a microwave-safe container.

Sauté the Asparagus

Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the trimmed asparagus to the pan, tossing to coat them evenly in the melted butter. Season with salt and pepper.

Sprinkle the sugar evenly over the asparagus in the pan.
